Chiaroscuro
8th April – 16th May
Our annual oil themed exhibition in the 2023 calendar. This exhibition seeks to display an exciting and diverse collection of original oil paintings which encompass or inspire a sense of euphoria and will include submissions from Members of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters (ROI).
The description ‘chiaroscuro’ in the terms of painting refers to clear tonal contrasts which are often used to suggest the volume and modelling of subjects being depicted. Artists who are famed for the use of chiaroscuro include Leonardo da Vinci and Caravaggio.
