Denise Heywood is a fine artist specialising in still life and botanical subjects. She worked for many years as a freelance illustrator, focusing on fine art prints, greeting cards and children’s information books. Her images have been licensed worldwide.
She studied textile design at Manchester and Loughborough universities but decided to pursue a career in illustration following her degree. Now, she focuses solely on painting.
Denise lives in the Shropshire countryside; where she is inspired by the natural world – plant forms, flowers and fruits. She uses watercolour and body colour on hot pressed paper. Denise’s paintings are small in size – she aims to portray the jewels of nature using glowing colours, but with an edge of mystery which she feel lies at the heart of nature.
