Michael, from an early age has always had a passion for drawing. He studied graphic design, then worked as a freelance illustrator before taking up painting on a full time basis. He lives in Plymouth and regularly takes workshops for various art societies.

“Although my work has been rooted in tradition, I enjoy the problems of painting in a more abstract way. Acrylic is an ideal medium for this, especially used with collage. One can switch an oil painting technique into a watercolour technique in the blink of an eye. The element of surprise is a key factor. Subject matter becomes less important as the movement and quality of the paint take over.” Michael
