‘Life is Sweet’

“The paintings in this collection are created from childhood memories and all feature my animal characters. Each one is lost in the moment of that first bite or taste of a biscuit or cake, some we suspect are guilty of eating everything, with just a few crumbs remaining.
Childhood treats, food and place are important themes in my work that evoke memories and nostalgia often bringing feelings of comfort, happiness and a strong sense of belonging. Thoughts of time spent at my Auntie’s house, waiting patiently for the plate of biscuits to arrive at the table with Rex, her black Labrador also waiting patiently at my feet for crumbs to drop.  
This combination helps me create the paintings, telling a story I hope each viewer can relate to as well as putting a smile on their face!” Alison
