Shame there isn’t more Kent in it
Adam De Ville | Oil on Gesso Panel | 12 x 10 inches
“Central to this collection of paintings is decay and renewal. Marrying realism with abstract marks, or graffiti, is an attempt to capture and reflect upon our continuously changing relationship with the natural world: an often beautiful friction.
The abstract elements help foreground the landscapes, giving them a heightened quality, both fragmenting the view and somehow unifying it at the same time. It always feels like the landscapes want to continue outside the frame, to escape. Hopefully these paintings can be considered moments, fleeting moments, but ones containing an elemental energy that pays respect to nature and asks us to ponder our place in it.”
