“I have always had an obsession for the Dutch still life masters and finding this delightful little Dutch cup at a local flea market in Denmark filled me with joy and inspiration to create this simple little painting. Some unlucky bluebells had accidentally caught the blades of the lawnmower so I scooped them up and placed them just as they were, in the water filled cup hoping they would revive. The quirky little elf like peasants dancing around the cup brought a smile to my face and their faded blue jackets matched the bluebells perfectly! I wanted to illustrate the immense joy I feel from the simplest of things. This painting process definitely put a spring in my step!” Ginny
