Sunset In Mill Hill Park XXVII

Exhibition: Artist:

Diana Sandetskaya | Oil on Gesso Board | 12 x 18 inches

This is one of the series of paintings of sunsets in my local Mill Hill Park, in North London. Inspired by the dramatic contrast, light and colours presented by nature, I have been observing sunsets there for a while, capturing the most striking ones in my paintings. Sometimes I feel as if the Nature is the most talented, generous artist showing us its breathtaking masterpieces. Being able to see them fills me with a deep sense of gratitude. Often beauty is right in front of us, but we are too busy to appreciate it. I hope that capturing and sharing with viewers the glory of nature will remind of the magnificence and fragility of our Planet and will help in bringing us together in the effort to protect it.” Diana

Diana Sandetskaya paints the end of the day as the sun sets and nocturnal scenes, often in the context of a suburban landscape. Sandetskaya is interested in the emotive response of a viewer to the same place, depending on the time of day, weather, and season, as well as one’s mood, imagination, narrative and personal experience. Sandetskaya captures what she has seen locally, painting atmospheric, poetic scenes that evoked in her a sense of awe, or which she found to have almost transcendental qualities. She works mainly in oils, painting in a style that references realism and romanticism.
