“The early morning sunlight was intense and changing quickly. Within half an hour, everything had been thrown into shadow as the sun disappeared behind a cloud. I regretted doing such a large painting as I knew I could have completely something half the size. Thankfully I was able to work on it back in the studio from a few photos and I even managed to capture the light as it was when I first started the painting.”
