Jill Leman RBA, PRWS | Acrylic on Canvas | 12 x 12 inches 

Born in America, Jill was brought up in Essex.

She attended Colchester School of Art where John Nash and Edward Bawden were tutors and went on to study Graphic Design at the Central School of Art & Design ( now CSM).

A career in design followed until returning to painting in 1996.

Jill is inspired by domestic subjects, mainly flowers within a still life, although she also enjoys painting cats,buildings and sometimes people.

Jill was elected a member of the Royal Watercolour Society in 2009 and the RBA in 2011.

Her paintings have featured in exhibitions around the UK including the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, the Ruth Borchard Self Portrait Competition, The Sunday Times Watercolour Competition and the Royal Society of Portrait Painters.

Jill was the first female President of the RWS 2017-2023.

Jill lives in Islington with her husband the artist Martin Leman.
