Winter in the Welsh Hills
Naomi Tydeman RI | Watercolour | 5 x 5 inches
‘Winner of the Turner Watercolour Prize in 2013, Naomi Tydeman is a self-taught watercolourist winning awards at a national level for her innovative styles and use of light and texture. She continuously explores the qualities of watercolour, experimenting and pushing the boundaries of this incredible medium.
Naomi opened her own studio-gallery in Tenby in 1998, where the natural beauty of Pembrokeshire provides the inspiration for much of her work. With solo exhibitions in London, Italy and France, she has also been invited to show in International Watercolour Masters Exhibitions in China, Taiwan, Bulgaria and New York, while the ‘Evensongs’ collection toured Italy for six months.
Sometimes her work is figurative and precise, but often she allows the watercolour to be watercolour, to merge and flow and settle and separate – and then uses what it gives her. This encourages an abstract quality within which images form, unrepeatable and unique. These two small paintings, representing winter in the Welsh hills and an iconic headland in Pembrokeshire, were created in this way.’
We do offer the Own Art Scheme to purchase artwork. At 0% APR, this is payable in equal instalments over 10 months. Please contact the Gallery for more information.
