Hunstanton Dock
Gita Dickinson was a regional British artist associated with the Norfolk coast, particularly the area around Cromer and Hunstanton. She is known for atmospheric paintings of the East Anglian landscape, including coastal cliffs, beaches, tidal waters and marine subjects. Her work is characterised by expressive, broken brushwork and a rich palette of ochres, sandy yellows, blues, greens and deep reds, giving her paintings a lively, almost impressionistic quality. Dickinson exhibited her work locally, including at the Garden House Gallery in Cromer, where her paintings of marine life such as crabs and lobsters were shown. Although relatively little biographical information about her survives online, her paintings capture the distinctive character of the Norfolk coastline and are of particular interest as examples of local twentieth/twenty-first-century East Anglian landscape painting.
