Peeping Tom

Kate Alger | Drypoint Etching | Edition of 10 | 4 x 4 inches

Kate Alger is a multi-disciplinary artist-printmaker who lives in town but just a short walk away from the river, the woods and the Surrey Hills. Her work is timeless, sensitive and entirely handmade. Kate works in many forms of printmaking and loves the blend of free-hand drawing or painting and the massive range of techniques, processes, styles and opportunities to learn that printmaking offers.

Most of Kate’s work is black and white and this recent ongoing series of little cats is no exception. Carefully scratched into and carved out of recyclable packaging and lino, inked and wiped in the same way as her etchings, and printed onto 100% cotton rag paper, these little cats and their playful titles are a homage to some of our best – if slightly aloof – friends.

Kate exhibits and teaches regularly. She has been a finalist in the DSWF Wildlife Artist of the Year in 2024 and 2025 (fingers crossed for 2026), and is a member of the Guild of Motoring Artists. Kate has collaborated with several animal charities and welcomes corporate and private commissions.
