‘Threads’ used a tiny stoneware pot that I found in a junk shop. For me this pot represents understated, enduring simplicity. Combined with my vintage Coats reel, the painting references the quiet patience of needlecrafts. It is a nostalgic window into a simpler time where people( mostly women) passed on their skills to the next generation. I was thinking of my mother, sisters and daughter whilst I made this piece.
