My handbuilt, ceramic sculptures explore the tension between our quiet outward facades and the complex inner self. Using flowing forms punctuated by raw textures, I balance a fluid visual language with an undercurrent of darkness. Clay is the ideal medium for this: transitioning seamlessly from soft, fluid state to rigid, rock-like structure.
Each piece begins with writing – sparked by a fragment of conversation or a private thought. I distill this concept into a working title that guides the mood and tone of the piece. Led by the idea, I shape the clay directly, letting the final form evolve as I respond to the material.
